Groove cramp
I don't want to come across as an enviro-slacker, but driving with the windows down (to save gas by not using a/c) really puts a cramp in my commuting groove.
Getting somewhere is a secondary part of the driving experience. The music en route is usually what makes the destination bearable. As in...I hate grocery shopping, but at least I can crank up the music on the way.
I'm not one of those people who blast tunes for all to hear. I discreetly rock out in my vehicular sound booth.
But sound boothiness is compromised when the windows are rolled down. You wouldn't ask a photographer to open the doors to his dark room during development. Same thing.
As a child of the 70's, cruising with music is second nature. Sticking nubbies in my ears and being all wired up like a robot isn't my scene.
And it's just too darn loud at home to even hear if music is playing. So, that venue is out of the question.
What to do? Hmm...what would Jack Black do? Alas...the answer is revealed!
I must sacrifice personal comfort for the sake of rock and roll.
So, if you see a woman driving around in the heat of the day with the windows rolled up, sweating and gasping for air...take a closer peek.
If she is mouthing the words to Ballroom Blitz, give her a wave of encouragement--in the name of rock and roll (and high gas prices).
