Oatmeal Cookies

 

2 cups packed brown sugar

1 cup shortening

½ cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 cups oats

1 ¾ cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

¾ teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped, fresh cranberries—optional

 

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix brown sugar, shortening, milk and vanilla.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Flatten cookies with bottom of glass dipped in water.

Bake until golden brown for 8 – 10 minutes.

Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
